Emely and Emilia's Second Blogs

  Ms. Nakada did attendance. Then, we opened up our notebooks and did our agenda. We went over the quote of the week which was, "You will come away bruised./ You will come away bruised/ but this will give you poetry.” Yrsa Daley Ward Then everyone had to guess what this quote means. Then, we did our question of the week which was, "What is the most important thing you have learned about life from this time in distance learning?" Next, we went over the song of the week “A Change Is Gonna Come” by Sam Cooke. Then, everyone had to put what this song was about and what was their favorite lyric was. Then, we went over three poems made by Langston Hughes called “Tired," "Dreams," and "Harlem." Everyone had to underline words. We read poems from Inside Out & Back Again. Then, class ended. Today, in class we first wrote the agenda for the week. Then, we read the quote of the week on the Jamboard and also the question of the week. We then listened to

Sheila's First Blog

Today, we started with our agenda.  We wrote and discussed the quote of the week, the question of the week, and the song of the week on the Jamboard.  Then, we read Inside Out and Back Again . After that, we went into breakout rooms and read more chapters. At the end, we discussed what the chapters were about, and that was all for today.

Monica's Second Blog

Today, we wrote a class blog and then did the blog corrections. We read a poem by Langston Hughes about being the only Black student at his college. Then, we read Inside Out & Back Again , and after that we did the summaries. We opened the document to write summaries and then took a quiz. 

Class Blog for Wednesday

We wrote the agenda. We went over the blog, and we did the blog corrections. We did our quote, question and song of the week. The quote was by Rosa Parks and it was about the Golden Rule. The questions asked if we follow the Golden Rule.  We listened to a song called "Strange Fruit" by Billie Holiday.  We read Part 3 Inside Out and Back Again and did some summaries.  We had to record our English notebooks during asynch time. 

Aahana's Second Blog

First, we started with the blog and then corrected it. Next, we talked about the guiding principles for the Black Lives Matter movement. Then, we reviewed the Jamboard. Finally, we read chapters of Inside Out and Back Again then summarized them.

Jojo's Second Blog

For this week's blog we went over blog corrections, Quote of the Week, Question of the Week, and the Song of the Week.  The Quote of the Week was by Assata Shakur: "It is our duty to fight for our freedom. It is our duty to win. We must love and protect one another. We have nothing to lose but our chains." The Question of the Week was about justice.  After that, Ms Nakada made a Jamboard and the Song of the Week was called "Lift Every Voice & Sing." We read more poems from Inside Out and Back Again .
