Jojo's First Blog

Last week in Ms. Nakada's class we went over The Outsiders . The quote of the week was by Ruth Bader Ginsberg: "To those accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression."  And the song of the week was "Keep Ya Head Up" by Tupac.  The song of the week had me feeling happy. The question was: How do you experience both privilege and oppression? We also went over independent reading plans.  This is my blog.

Micah's First Blog

First, we went over Diego’s blog and made corrections. Next, I was chosen to do today’s blog. We reviewed chapter 9 of The Outsiders . Then, we went over the five steps of the writing process: prewriting, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing. Lastly, Ms. Nakada explained the Step up to writing, a way to organize a paragraph. Then, the class ended

Diego's First Blog

Good morning, today during class I got chosen to do the blog. Which I wasn’t too excited about, but I will give it my best shot. Today, in our journals we started our week four page. First, we wrote our agenda and homework. Then, we wrote our quotes of the week because there were two quotes: "Nothing gold can stay" by Robert Frost v. "Stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay gold." Then, we discussed which quote we liked more.  Then we wrote our question of the week: How should parents handle a bad report card? We listened to the song of the week which was "Fast Car" by Tracy Chapman.  Finally, we discussed and wrote an elements of plot line for chapter 8 of The Outsiders .

Kari's First Blog

Here's the Blog I did today: Hi! I was chosen to do the blog for today (more like volunteered but shh). Today was like any other day. We wrote in our journal, and we’re told by Ms. Nakada we are going to be practicing our writing.  In our journal, we first wrote a poem by the poet; Robert Frost and I'd say Robert wrote the poem very well. I can imagine the green grass and soft breeze in the air just from the few words and understood the meaning. We talked about the poem and spoke about the meaning for a bit. We then went over homework which was the Elements of Plot for The Outsiders .  After reviewing that, we said our goodbyes and finished class.

Wilmer's First Blog

Hello since today is my time to blog, I'll be the one writing stuff down. So, at the beginning of the class I was assigned to blog and then the class was sent in to breakout rooms to discuss The Outsiders . After that, we brought out our notebooks, and talked about chapters 3 and 4 of The Outsiders . After that, we talked elements of plot and how about their parts of a story. Finally, after that, we left.

Emily V.'s First Blog

Hello, I'm Emily and I will be telling you what happened in Ms. Nakada's Zoom on   Monday, August 31st. First, she took attendance. Then, we talked about our   stress levels. Ms. Nakada talked about the blog, and Cameron picked me to do the   blog this time.  We wrote the agenda for this week in our English notebooks.   Then, we talked about the quote of the week: "To build community requires vigilant awareness of the work we must do to undermine the socialization that leads us to behave in ways that perpetuate domination." bell hooks We discussed and answered the   question of the week which was "What do you think about distance learning?" I   said it sucks.  We listened and discussed the song of the week which was "What's   Going On" by Marvin Gaye.  Then, the class ended and we left the Zoom.
